Aerial Dance Mentorship is a facilitated independent study. An opportunity for students, who show readiness to develop their dance artistry and work with their personal interests.
Dancer Requirements:
-Dancers must be currently enrolled in a class at WHD
-12yrs or older
-minimum of 1yr aerial dance experience
-Schedule weekly meeting w/ Sasha (about 10 per session)
This is a program for the developing artist who wishes to deepen their artistic practice with dance. It includes individualized attention, supervised independent study based on the students’ interest, student composition/ choreography skills, technical development, performance creation and support in developing ones artistic voice. Dancers have opportunity to share their work in the spring student showcase if they choose. Obviously, performance is always a choice. While students do focus on 1 primary apparatus for the session, the mentorship can include exploring other aerial apparatuses (Sling, Lyra, Rope, Silks).
